In this episode of the Deeply Rooted Business Podcast, we're tossing out the old “set-it-and-forget-it” advice for Q4. Instead of coasting through the holidays, we’re choosing to lock in with clarity, creativity, and intention. We're sharing the five mindset shifts we’re embracing to help us finish 2025 strong without burning out. From optimizing what you already have, to honoring your energy, to finding a biz bestie to keep you accountable, this episode is packed with practical reflections for running your business through the busy season with more ease and impact.

Optimize What You Already Have

Instead of scrambling to create something brand new, we’re looking at what already exists in our business and giving it a refresh. Whether it’s a sales page, podcast description, or offer stack—there’s usually gold hiding in the assets you’ve already built. Revisiting old content and offers with fresh eyes has helped us find quick wins without piling on extra workload. It's proof that you don’t always need to build more—you just need to fine-tune what’s already working.

Follow the Spark, But Give It Boundaries

That said, sometimes a new idea does light you up. We’re giving ourselves permission to follow that creative spark—but within boundaries. Jess talked about dedicating 20% of her time to passion projects that may never make a dime, but keep her feeling energized. We’ve learned that creating for fun (not just profit) can reignite momentum, as long as we’re not chasing every shiny object at the expense of what’s already working.

Do More of What Actually Works

It’s funny how often we stop doing the things that worked really well for us. We’ve both found ourselves revisiting strategies like networking, direct pitches, or simply sticking to our proven funnels—because complexity doesn’t always mean better. Sometimes scaling back is actually scaling smart. Getting honest about what worked in the past (and why we stopped doing it) helped us move forward with more clarity and less chaos.

Find Your Business BFF or Accountability Partner

As solopreneurs, it’s easy to feel isolated during the hustle of Q4. That’s why we lean on each other—and why we’re big believers in having a biz BFF or coach in your corner. Whether it’s bouncing ideas, staying on track, or just having someone who gets it—accountability and collaboration are game changers. If you’re craving momentum, find someone to build it with.

Protect Your Energy and Outsource What Drains You

Our final mindset shift? Honor your capacity. We’ve both faced burnout (hello, postpartum and tax season), and it taught us how crucial it is to know what drains us and hand it off whenever possible. Whether it’s bookkeeping, client comms, or just clearing your calendar a bit—protecting your energy lets you show up stronger in the areas that matter most. And that’s the kind of sustainability we want heading into 2026.

If you’re feeling stretched thin or unsure how to move through this season, we hope these shifts help you recalibrate. Whether you’re optimizing what’s already built, leaning into support, or making space to rest—there’s no one “right way” to close the year. Just don’t do it on autopilot. We’re rooting for you to finish 2025 feeling aligned, energized, and proud of the business you’re building.
